At Margaret River Hemp Co, we have always believed hemp is more than a product.
It is food. It is fibre. It is oil. It is skincare. It is fabric. It is building material. It is a farming story, a manufacturing story, a regional story and, most importantly, a practical story.
For us, hemp has never been about chasing a trend. It has always been about asking a better question:
What could this plant help us make, grow, replace, rethink or improve?
That question has guided us from the beginning.
For more than 30 years, our family business has grown from a Margaret River hemp retailer into a Western Australian hemp company working across hemp foods, Margaret River skincare, clothing, gifts, processing and hemp-based building materials.
That might look like a wide product range from the outside. To us, it is something more connected.
It is a farm-to-finished hemp value chain.

When we first began working with hemp, Australia was still learning how to talk about the plant.
For many people, hemp was confused with high-THC cannabis. Its practical uses were overshadowed by stigma. Its value as a food, fibre, skincare ingredient, textile and building material was still not widely understood.
But we saw something different.
We saw a plant that could offer more natural alternatives for everyday products. We saw a fibre with strength and versatility. We saw seed that could become nourishing food. We saw oil that could support beautiful skincare. We saw the potential for local processing, regional manufacturing and lower-impact materials.
Most of all, we saw a plant that deserved to be taken seriously.
That belief still sits at the heart of Margaret River Hemp Co today.

A lot of hemp brands focus on one category.
Some focus only on hemp foods. Some focus on wellness. Some focus on fibre, hurd or hempcrete. Some focus on clothing.
We understand why. It is simpler.
But hemp is not a single-use plant.
The seed can become food, oil, protein, flour and chocolate. The oil can become skincare and body care. The stem can be separated into fibre, hurd and fines. Those materials can be used in building, animal bedding, paper, bioplastics, textiles and other industrial applications.
That is why our business has grown the way it has.
We do not see hemp seed oil, hemp protein, skincare, clothing and building materials as disconnected categories. We see them as different expressions of the same plant.
The real opportunity is not just to sell hemp products. It is to help build the system that allows hemp to be grown, processed, used and understood properly in Australia.
For many customers, hemp begins in the kitchen.
Since low-THC hemp seed foods became legal for human consumption in Australia, we have been louder than ever about the everyday benefits of adding hemp seed to meals.
That is where our Just Add Hemp message comes from.
It is simple on purpose.
You do not need to change the way you eat overnight. You do not need a complicated recipe. You do not need to become an expert in hemp.
You can start with the food you already make.
A smoothie. A salad. A bowl of oats. A slice of toast. A batch of bliss balls. A pasta sauce. A weekend pancake stack.
Now just add hemp.
Our hemp foods are Australian grown, processed and packaged, and they make it easy to add plant-based protein, omegas, fibre, magnesium and nutty flavour to everyday meals.
Small seed. Simple habit. Real food.

Hemp seed oil has also been central to our skincare story.
Our skincare is made in Margaret River and built around nourishing hemp seed oil, supported by carefully chosen botanical ingredients. It reflects the same belief that started our journey: everyday products can be made with better ingredients and a lighter touch.
For us, skincare is not separate from the rest of the HempCo story.
It is another way to show what hemp can do.
The same plant that can feed us can also care for our skin. The same seed that can be pressed into food oil can become the base of body care, face care, soaps and hair products.
That full-circle thinking is what keeps us excited after all these years.
The consumer products are the most visible part of what we do.
But the deeper story is processing.
Australia's hemp industry cannot grow properly without local infrastructure. Farmers need reliable markets. Builders need consistent hurd and fibre. Makers need materials. Customers need traceability. Regional industries need processing capacity close enough to make the supply chain work.
That is why our move into hemp processing matters so much to us.
Hemp is not just harvested and forgotten. The stem can be separated and used. The fibre, wood core and fines all have potential value.
That matters because every part of the plant tells a different story.
When people talk about hemp as a sustainable crop, this is the part they often miss. Hemp's promise is not only in how it grows. It is in how completely it can be used.

One of the most exciting parts of our work is seeing hemp move from the pantry into the built environment.
Hempcrete has opened a bigger conversation about what homes and buildings can be made from. It brings hemp into the world of architecture, construction, insulation, regional manufacturing and low-impact building materials.
For us, that is powerful.
It means hemp is not only something you sprinkle on breakfast or massage into your skin. It can become part of the walls around you. It can help shape healthier, more considered spaces. It can connect farmers, processors, builders, designers and homeowners in one supply chain.
That is why our work with hemp building materials and related hemp housing projects is so important to the broader HempCo vision.
We are not only selling finished products. We are helping prove what a finished hemp ecosystem can look like.

Margaret River is not just where we are based.
It is part of who we are.
This region has shaped the way we think about farming, lifestyle, environment, community and quality. It has also helped us understand the importance of building real local systems rather than relying entirely on imported solutions.
We are proud to make skincare here. We are proud to work with Australian-grown hemp foods. We are proud to keep pushing for more domestic hemp processing. We are proud to support the growth of Australian hemp fibre, hurd and building-material supply.
We also know the work is not finished.
Australia's hemp textile capacity is still developing. Processing infrastructure still needs scale. Regulations still create challenges. Public understanding still needs work. Some parts of the industry are moving faster than others.
But that is exactly why we keep going.
A young industry does not become strong by waiting for perfect conditions. It becomes strong when people build, educate, process, test, grow, improve and keep showing up.

Industrial hemp is a non-intoxicating crop, but it still sits inside a complex regulatory environment.
In Australia, hemp seed foods only became legal for human consumption in 2017. Cultivation and processing remain licensed activities, and marketing hemp products can still be more difficult than it should be when platforms and policies confuse industrial hemp with cannabis.
We see this every day.
That is why education is such a big part of our work.
We do not just want people to buy hemp. We want them to understand it.
We want people to know the difference between hemp seed foods and medicinal cannabis. We want them to understand why hemp fibre matters. We want builders to understand hurd and hempcrete. We want customers to know why hemp seed oil belongs in skincare. We want families to see how easy hemp foods are to use.
The more people understand hemp, the stronger the whole industry becomes.
We believe hemp has an important role to play in more sustainable farming, manufacturing and building conversations.
It grows quickly. It has a deep taproot. It can be used in many different ways. It can support food, fibre and building-material markets. It can help us think differently about waste, materials and local production.
But we also believe sustainability claims should be made carefully.
Hemp is not a magic word. It is not enough to put "eco" on a label and call the job done.
Real sustainability means better sourcing, better processing, better product design, better transparency and better use of the whole plant.
That is the work we are interested in.
Not greenwashing. Not hype. Not vague promises.
Just practical hemp products, made with purpose, backed by a real supply-chain story.
The next chapter for Margaret River Hemp Co is not simply about selling more products.
It is about strengthening the connections between them.
Hemp foods introduce people to the plant in a simple, everyday way. Skincare shows how hemp seed oil can become a beautiful natural ingredient. Clothing and textiles show the strength and comfort of hemp fibre. Processing turns raw crop into usable material. Hempcrete and building products show what hemp can contribute to homes, design and regional manufacturing.
Together, these pieces tell a much bigger story.
A farm-to-finished story.
A seed-to-shelter story.
A story about what can happen when hemp is not treated as a novelty, but as a serious agricultural, consumer and industrial crop.
That is the future we are working toward.

At Margaret River Hemp Co, we often talk about planting small seeds of change.
That might mean adding hemp seed to your breakfast. Choosing a hemp seed oil skincare product made in Margaret River. Learning about hempcrete. Asking where materials come from. Supporting Australian-grown hemp foods. Talking to your builder about lower-impact options. Visiting our store. Reading, sharing, asking questions.
None of those actions need to be complicated.
But they all help.
Because the hemp industry Australia needs will not be built by one product, one farm, one building or one business. It will be built by many small choices, made again and again, by people who can see the value of this plant.
We have believed in hemp for more than 30 years.
We still believe its biggest chapter is ahead.
And we are proud to be building that future from Margaret River.
