In addition to its nutritional value, hemp seed oil has demonstrated a number of positive health benefits,
including lowering cholesterol and high blood pressure. Hemp seed oil is rich in Omega-3 fatty
acids, which help lower blood pressure.

Research suggests that using hemp seed oil with blood pressure medication helps properly
regulate it. Maintaining optimal blood pressure levels helps to reduce the risk of heart failure.

Useful for humans and pets

Humans and their pets alike can use hemp seed oil orally or topically. It can be added to food, feed, or applied directly to the skin. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune condition that leads to inflammation of the joints. A study in 2014 revealed that hemp seed oil might have anti-rheumatic effects on the human body.

Another study in 2018 confirmed the effectiveness of hemp seed oil in treating rheumatoid arthritis. Pets like dogs and cats can also benefit from adding hemp seed oil as a supplement to their feed.

Pet anxiety, pain, and inflammation can be properly managed with hemp seed oil.


The hemp oil contains g-linolenic acid, an ingredient for light body oils and lipid-enriched creams, known for their high penetration into the skin. One study found that oral use of hemp seed oil helps fight atopic dermatitis.

Individuals with skin conditions like acne and psoriasis can also benefit from hemp seed oil. One study reveals that dietary deficiency of omega-3 fatty acids may precipitate acne. Additionally, it improves skin strength, turgor, and the ability to resist infection.

In similarity to synthetic compounds, enzymatic food protein-derived peptides are supposed to be safer natural antioxidants that can be used as protecting agents to help the human body reduce oxidative damage and associated diseases. 

The hemp seed oil has protective effects on the brain. Therefore, it helps manage conditions like Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, neuropathic pain, and childhood seizure disorders.

Cardiovascular diseases, obesity, and diabetes mellitus 

Hemp seed oil contains fatty acids, oleic acid, linoleic acid, and alpha-linolenic acid. These fatty acids have been extensively researched for their protective effects against obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and diabetes mellitus. In addition, Dietary omega-3 PUFA helps to enhance general metabolic rates and promote the burning of fat. 

Omega-3 fatty acids optimise heart health and significantly reduce the risk of arrhythmias and other heart diseases. Hemp seed oil is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids. Therefore, it is an excellent choice for a daily supplement.  

Additionally, hemp seeds contain arginine, which the body converts to nitric oxide. Nitric oxide plays a role in artery and vein dilation to keep the blood flowing properly to all body organs.

The hemp seed oil has a balanced ratio of omega 3 to omega 6, making it great for alleviating inflammation. In regards to the ratio (3:1), Hempseed oil has been recommended to be perfectly balanced of the two important (linolenic acids and linoleic) as its major omega-6 and omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA).

They are also an excellent source of GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) anti-inflammatory properties. Therefore, it helps manage inflammatory conditions like metabolic syndrome and arthritis. 

Protects digestive health

Omega-3 fatty acids support the digestive system’s natural flora. In addition, it supports the natural flora of the gut. Hemp seed oil is high in fibre, promoting bowel movement and reducing cholesterol. 

Additionally, hemp seed oil reduces inflammation, a symptom of inflammatory bowel disorder.  

Hair health

Hemp seed oil is fortified to boost hair health. It is enriched with omega-3 fatty acids, making hair thicker, stronger, and shinier. Study shows that hemp seed oil encourages hair growth. 

Individuals with dandruff and dryness can also benefit from using hemp seed oil as a moisturiser. Additionally, it has soothing properties that protect the scalp. 



Hemp seed oil includes protein 20–25%, carbohydrates 20–30%, oil 25–35% and insoluble fibre and a rich array of minerals 10–15%. 

It has numerous benefits, many of these are due to omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids that give hemp seed oil its anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, and anti-thrombotic properties. 

In November 2017, hemp was finally legalised as a food in Australia.

Acknowledged by Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) as a highly nutritious food, we can now all enjoy one of the healthiest and most versatile foods available.
